Helping American students study in China, at a moment when China is inviting 100,000 young Americans to learn there.
We help American students enroll in Chinese universities in Chinese language programs, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral (PhD) programs, taught in English or Chinese. We guide you through every step: choosing a program, applying for scholarships, preparing documents, getting a student visa, and settling in on campus.
An open invitation to 100,000 young Americans
On September 24, 2026, speaking at the White House welcoming ceremony hosted by President Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced an invitation for 100,000 young Americans to visit China for exchanges and study over the next five years.
The previous goal, set in 2023, of welcoming 50,000 young Americans was reached ahead of schedule.
At the same time, the number of American degree students in China has fallen sharply, from about 11,000 in 2019 to roughly 2,000 in 2026. For students willing to go, that means real opportunity: attention from admissions offices, scholarship funding, and a rare credential in a field few Americans have entered.

Every level, from language study to a PhD
We help students apply to programs at four levels at Chinese universities, taught in English or in Chinese.
Chinese language programs
One-semester or one-year Mandarin study for beginners and continuing learners. A strong start before a degree, or a goal in itself.
Bachelor’s degree
Usually four years, for high school graduates. English-taught options include business, engineering, and international relations.
Master’s degree
Usually two to three years, for students with a bachelor’s degree, in a wide range of English-taught and Chinese-taught fields.
Doctoral degree (PhD)
Usually three to four years of research under a faculty supervisor, for students with a master’s degree.
Language of instruction: many programs are taught in English; Chinese-taught programs typically require proof of Chinese proficiency (HSK). Program lengths and requirements vary by university.

Funding that can cover tuition and more
Many international students in China study on partial or full scholarships. We help you find the right ones and apply well.
Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)
The best-known national program. Full awards can cover tuition, on-campus housing, a monthly stipend, and medical insurance. Highly competitive.
Provincial and city scholarships
Offered by many provincial and municipal governments to attract international students to universities in their region.
University scholarships
Merit-based awards offered directly by universities, from tuition waivers to full packages, often with simpler applications.
Scholarship decisions are made by the awarding bodies and universities, not by us. Coverage, eligibility, and deadlines vary by program and year. We cannot guarantee an award, but we will help you submit the strongest application you can.

Common questions
Is it safe for an American student to study in China?
Millions of international students have studied in China, and university campuses and major cities generally have low rates of street crime. That said, you should make your own informed decision. Read the current U.S. State Department travel advisory for China, understand that local laws differ from U.S. law (including rules on internet use, public speech, and drugs), and carry your passport and residence permit. We cover all of this in our pre-departure briefing.
What support will I have once I arrive?
Every Chinese university that admits international students has an international student office that handles registration, housing, and residence permits. We help you through those first steps and remain available by message during your first semester. We also recommend registering with the U.S. State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
Do I need to speak Chinese?
Not for every program. Many universities offer English-taught Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs, especially in business, engineering, medicine, and international relations. Chinese-taught programs usually require an HSK certificate. If you want to learn Chinese, a one-year language program is a popular starting point, and our online Chinese course can help you prepare before you arrive.
How much does it cost?
Tuition and living costs vary by university and city, and are often well below U.S. levels. Scholarships can reduce or cover tuition and housing. Our initial consultation is free. Pricing depends on the program and level of support. Contact us for a quote.
Can you guarantee admission or a scholarship?
No. Admission and scholarship decisions are made by universities and awarding bodies. What we offer is careful preparation and honest advice about your chances.
Will my degree be recognized in the U.S.?
Degrees from accredited Chinese universities are generally evaluated by U.S. credential evaluation services. Recognition for licensed professions, such as medicine or law, depends on the specific U.S. licensing board, so check those requirements before you choose a program.
Are you affiliated with a government program?
No. Study China is a private educational consulting service operated by MROSH Consulting LLC. We are not affiliated with the U.S. or Chinese government.
